BBGT LIQUID MEDIA

Microbiological Quality Assurance for Beer and Beverages

BBGT is a small, innovative company founded by Lars Peuker in Rosenheim, Germany, with over 25 years of experience in the beverage industry and a track record of consulting for more than 1,500 companies worldwide.

Benefits of BBGT growing media

  • Significant savings in time(10 seconds vs. 10 minutes) and cost (€1–3 per sample).
  • Ease of use: Ready-to-use media with vivid color indicators; no sterile laboratory or specialized personnel are required.
  • Safety: Free of antibiotics or toxic substances such as “Cycloeximide”.
  • Accuracy: Ability to analyze large sample volumes for greater statistical significance.

Major crops and growing regions

Drip-free design with a wide opening for easy, sterile sampling:

  • ALP (Culture Nectar): For general hygiene status and total bacterial count.
  • AFG (Culture Nectar): For bacteria that spoil non-alcoholic beverages (juices, tea, soft drinks).
  • BPO (Culture Nectar): For bacteria harmful to beer in samples containing active yeast.
  • BOB (Culture Nectar): For bacteria and yeasts that spoil beer (filtered beer, pasteurized beer).
  • Booster Media (HBK & FPK): Concentrates for samples with or without active yeast.
  • SPW & PWA: Concentrates for detecting bacteria in rinse and process water without membrane filtration.
  • Gas test kit: Sterile, single-use kit for microbiological sampling of technical gases such as compressed air or CO2.

The land types (ALP, AFG, BOB, BPO, SPW, PWA) are available in:

  • Ready-to-use plastic bottles: sterile wide-mouth bottles designed for direct sampling. The bottles are optimized to hold approximately 100 ml of sample, ensuring statistically reliable volumes.
  • 250 mL plastic bottles: sterile bottles containing 250 mL of broth, sufficient for analyzing up to 10 different samples. Can also be used for filtration analysis.
